M. Iqbal Nur Fahmi, students of Mechanical Engineering, University of Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) managed to design a shirt folding tool uses electro pneumatic system controller and Programmable Logic Controller (PLC).
In the early stages of this tool is intended for industrial convection, but in the future it may also be used for laundry business.
Iqbal said, work of this tool design has been started since November 2015. The design he doing himself under guidance of two faculty Mechanical Engineering UMY, Bambang Wahyudi and Riyanta.
Iqbal added, this clothes folding machine actually been produced abroad. However, the price of imported machinery and expensive, so that convection industry in Indonesia are reluctant to buy abroad clothes folding machines.
"Therefore, I innovate making machine at much cheaper cost, but the result is still good," Iqbal said in Yogyakarta recently.
This tool claims to be folded around 1,152 clothes within eight hours.
"Thus, the total efficiency of 60 percent and save costs approximately Rp.100 548," said Iqbal.
For making these tools, he spent Rp 22.28 million, all funded by a garment company in Yogyakarta. Shirt folding tool itself has been tested by convection and owners will begin to function in late 2016.
Furthermore, Iqbal will seek certification of Intellectual Property Rights (HAKI) on the tool that has been made.
"In addition to getting HAKI, hopefully this shirt folding tool can be mass produced in the future as well," said Iqbal.
